Chris Sligh

Chris has a Master's Degree in College Student Personnel from Ball State University and a Bachelor's degree from Grand Valley State University in Communications. He oversees the whole operation of the Student Activities and Leadership Programs Office. He specifically works with the Western Student Association as their advisor. He also spends time working as a liaison with the Office of Faith and Spiritual Development. Chris has been a bronco since 2000 and enjoys that no two days are the same and the high level of student interaction in his position.

 

Lynnae Stankus

As Associate Director for SALP, Lynnae oversees and coordinates some of our largest campus programs with students, including Bronco Bash and Homecoming events. She also co-advises the Campus Programming Board and the Bernhard Student Entertainment Team, and works with both groups to bring entertainment to campus. Lynnae also coordinates various forms of assessment within the department.

Originally from Holland, Michigan, Lynnae has a great amount of Bronco pride, as she is a two-time WMU alumna with her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and her Master's degree in Student Affairs Administration. She loves working in SALP because she gets to see students' creativity when it comes to programming and her position allows her to get involved with so many student events on campus. Lynnae feels there is no better place to get involved than at WMU!

Kristin Fouts

Kristin came to WMU in December 2007 from Wichita, Kansas, although she was born and raised in central Illinois. Kristin received a B.A. in Public Relations from Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois, and a M.S. in Communication from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. Although she is a Scot at heart, she has a great amount of pride as a new Bronco!

Her responsibilities in SALP include RSO Development (helping RSOs develop and successfully contribute to the university) and Fraternity/Sorority Life. She also co-advises the Homecoming staff. She volunteers for her fraternity (Kappa Kappa Gamma) and professional associations, and enjoys conducting research and writing on subjects relevant to her work.

Melissa Green

Melissa was born and raised as a Bronco. She is a second generation graduate of WMU, receiving her B.S. in Elementary Education in 2003. She went on to receive her M.S. in Counselor Education from Ohio State University.

Melissa's primary responsibilities include developing student leadership programs and overseeing Volunteer Services. She also works with the Graduate Student Advisory Committee (GSAC) and the Alternative Break groups.

What Melissa enjoys most about working in Student Activities is the opportunity to give back to the university that gave so much to her while a student at WMU. Most of all though, Melissa enjoys assisting students in their leadership development, and watching them grow during their time at Western.

Terri was raised in Eau Claire and now resides in Coloma, with her husband and two daughters. She loves to entertain, especially during the holidays, and is praised by others for her attention to detail and always upbeat personality.

Terri has been at WMU since 2005, serving in various departments throughout campus. All of these experiences have helped contribute to her ever-growing knowledge of the University and her Bronco spirit! In SALP, her main responsibilities are budgets and administrative support.

Michelle achieved a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Michigan State University, before continuing her education in Higher Education Students Affairs here at WMU. Michelle was an active student leader on campus in the LBGT community at MSU and participated in various student organizations, including student government, during her undergraduate career. She also enjoyed taking part in as many educational leadership opportunities she was able to which has lead her to the SALP office as the Leadership and Volunteer Services Graduate Assistant.

Michelle’s responsibilities as the Leadership & Volunteer Services Graduate Assistant include planning major leadership initiatives at WMU (Emerging Leaders Program, Fall Student Leadership Retreat, Spring Student Leadership Retreat), as well as, providing students with opportunities to help out in the local Kalamazoo community. She likes Western and the Kalamazoo area very much, and can’t wait to work with as many students, staff, faculty, and community members in the years to come!

Dev holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance/Economics from Western Michigan University. He served as a lead intern for the Vice President Of Business & Finance at Baltimore City Community College before joining the SALP team. Prior to that, he was with Bank of America as an account manager.

His responsibilities as the RSO Financial Advisor include helping students manage and track their on-campus financial accounts, assisting them with fundraising ideas, processing paperwork, facilitating financial workshops, as well as explaining university policies and procedures to the students.

Dev’s dream to pursue a finance related career within the Division of Student Affairs grew out of the satisfaction he drew from working with both undergraduate and graduate students through the numerous student leadership roles he played while pursuing his undergraduate studies as a Bronco.

Stephen Fountain

Stephen is a true Bronco, earning his Bachelors in Management from WMU in 2006. He comes back to Western after living and working in a variety of places, most recently Chicago. He is excited to be pursuing his Masters Degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs as it has been a goal of his for several years.

Playing four years with the Bronco Marching Band has made him deep-rooted in his school pride and he jokes, “if you see someone walking through campus singing the Alma Mater loud and proud, it is probably me.”

Stephen's responsibilities include RSO registration and orientation, coordinating the Golden Bronco program, overseeing the allocation of RSO office spaces, and advising RSOs with recruitment, programming, and retention strategies. He is excited to meet as many RSOs as possible this year and encourages you to come see him in his new office in the Bernhard Center when it opens!

 

Michael Couch

Michael Couch was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He completed his undergrad at Grand Valley State University. Michael is currently a Master's candidate here at WMU in the Higher Education and Student Affairs program. He is currently the Graduate Assistant for Greek Life and his responsibilities a range from helping advise the Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council and National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. in all endeavors & activities. Michael attends regular meetings as required, meets weekly with student leaders within the community and many more things. Michael 's favorite thing about working in SALP is that everyone has a great sense of humor. This helps him with being the new person on board and has made his transition to SALP and WMU very easy. Also, his other favorite thing about SALP is that no day is ever the same, every day there is something different.

Nicole grew up in Livonia, MI before coming over to the west side of Michigan in 2005. She completed her undergraduate work at Grand Valley State University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2008.

After graduation, Nicole worked for her National Sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha, as a traveling Leadership Consultant. She came back to Michigan to become a Bronco as a master’s candidate in the Higher Education and Student Affairs program during the Spring of 2009.

Currently, her responsibilities include helping with the fun entertainment and activities that make Western’s campus a great place to be! She works on large scale campus events such as Bronco Bash and Homecoming and is the graduate advisor for the Campus Activities Board and the Bernhard Student Entertainment Team. She is very excited to be a part of Western Michigan’s SALP office because of all of the great staff and students who are a part of WMU!
